Day 15 – Slow Boat to Luang Prabang

Day 1 of our slow boat journey down the Mekong River to Luang Prabang

Had to wake up at 5 am to drive to the Chiang Khong border crossing to Laos
Tuk tuk ride to the boat port
Once we crossed the border we got to the slow boat port for our journey down the Mekong River
Inside of the boat
Got free sandwiches on our journey:)
The journey was 7 hours long
The boat stopped in Pakbeng for the evening which is a small village halfway to Luang Prabang. The town doesn’t have 24 hour electricity.
Enjoy a Laotian fried rice for dinner

  2. Did you rent a car for this part of the trip? The river looks pretty shallow, any water buffalo’s or wild life along the way? The food always looks amazing and the scenery is beautiful.
