Day 31 – Siem Reap

Today we visited the Apopo visitor center that works and trains rats to detect land mines all over Cambodia. The rats have been brought over from Tanzania where they were used to detect tuberculosis and TNT odour.
Dogs are also used to detect TNT but because the rat are so light they are able to walk over the landmines without setting them off. We got to see a demonstration of how the rats are used to clear an area.
They are African Giant Pouched Rats
In 2022 the rats helped locate 1967 mines and over 2600 explosive remnants from the Vietnamese war.
Then we visited the Angkor National Museum
Then we played some mini golf that was Angkor Wat themed. Thomas won by one putt.

  2. Hi Giulia and Thomas.
Frank and Mary here. Were you playing rummicube on day 27. Your grandmother is the best rummicube player in the greater boston area. I know personally. You should play a game with her the next time you are in the same town . Bye for now. More later
